The garland was inspired by the lovely tartans and plaids available, which gives a timeless appeal, whether in a modern or traditional setting. The garland looks good whichever colour scheme you choose. It would also make a marvellous table centrepiece with candles in the middle! The garland has sturdy wire frame which is padded and decorated to form a base for the embellished hearts, stars and Suffolk puffs.
This is suitable for either hand sewing, machining or a mixture of both.
Make your own bag to put your bits and bobs in...
These bags are based on a feature in Patchwork and Quilting Magazine some time ago. However I have altered the dimensions and proportions. It also works with pieced pockets or a flip and sew technique, or even chenilling. You are only limited by your imagination. Enjoy!
The finished bag is 12” (30cm) tall and has:
a draw cord
four pockets around the outside of the bag
and a 6” (15cm) square base.
An original spin on the classic tote bag. The finished bag is approximately 17” wide, 13" tall and 4" deep. It has two padded handles, six inside pockets and a key finder.
This Wallhanging was inspired by vintage Valentines Day cards.
The background fabric is from calico but would work equally well with linen or another plain fabric. The six small hearts are in red gingham and the larger heart is red with small spots. The centre is framed by red and ivory ticking. Embellishments in the form of buttons, ric-rac and embroidery have been added.
This project is suitable for either hand sewing or machine.
